Hello Locavore,
Welcome to our stall, Rebel With A Garden!
First of all, we thank you for supporting local farmers.
This is our first season here, so there is a lot of getting used to.
You might wonder about our name. We will explain it as we go along.
Our microfarm is in our backyard and it is in Scarborough.
If you are wondering how far our farm is from this market, it is a few stone throws or Tomato throws away from this market.
(It may take a lot more, if you want to throw pumpkins!)
We are located close to Kennedy Subway.
We have been growing vegetables in our backyard for the last 20 years. But this is the first year we are selling them.
All these years, our friends and relative were sharing the abundance we had every summer. But this year, with our heart-felt thanks for the opportunity we had at UTSC Farmer’s Market, we decided sell what we grow.
We grow our vegetables in eco-friendly ways. We use no chemicals, mostly use natural pesticides like neem oil soap.
We have more than 8 rain barrels to save rain water for our farm.
Our vegetables are all open pollinated varieties to save seeds for the next year.
We are not growing your usual suspects you can find at the supermarkets. We don’t want to compete with the supermarkets in the race down to the bottom in prices. We grow what you don’t normally see at your supermarket produce section.
So fasten your seat belts and loosen your belts to get your belly full.
We are going to have an exciting ride together.
