Elderberry

Better known for its purple black fruits, elderberry (Sambucus canadensis) grows wild in southern Ontario and eastern North America. It is grown in home gardens as an ornamental and fruit plant.  It has fragrant flowers and attractive fruits.
Elderberries are used in pies, jams, jellies, juice, wines and soup.  Its blossoms can be deep fried and are used in wine making.
Fruits matures between mid-August and mid-September.
It is said to boost immune system and fight various ailments.
